After the recent events in Kosovo I started searching about that region's recent history and I found something about Hoxha, their former "communist" dictator, and how he fought "against Albanian nationalists who pushed for a greater Albania. The term Greater Albania or Great Albania refers to land which is outside the borders of the Republic of Albania that Albanian nationalists claim as their own, because of either present-day or historical presence of Albanian populations in those areas. The term implies a desire for territorial expansion." - Wikipedia
(Territorial expansion implies a state of war...)
So the albanian nacionalists have the desire for a territorial expansion, so it can be called Expansionist Nacionalism.
Let's see the definition of Expansionist Nacionalism:
Expansionist Nationalism is a radical form of nationalism that incorporates autonomous, patriotic sentiments with a belief in expansionism. It is most closely associated with the likes of Nazism (nationalist-socialism) and also shares some commonalities with American neoconservatism.
Anyway, it's obvious that the kosovo's "independence" was motivated by the albanian nacionalism has I've seen many albanian flags during the demostrations and as some here in dA have refered to the concept of Great Albania has a justification about kosovo's independence.
To one of them I posted my comment on her journal and she posted back "Sorry but I don't answer to serbian racists" and blocked me without giving me a chance to reply (how brave!). First of all I'm not serbian, second I didn't mentioned nothing about races or something about albanians as a people, when it's the albanians hate sebians and vice-versa.
I just don't like to be insulted when I expressed my opinion in a respectfull way... and most of all I don't like being called racist.
This proves the radicalism, stupidity an inability to hear and respect other people's opinion in their ideology, just like some skinheads I've argued with that most of times just insulted (and of course I insulted back) and sad things like "Every commie is weaker than shit when put in a gas chamber" but at least they didn't call me racist.
I'm not on anybody's side... I just see no reason for kosovo to be independent: there's already a Serbia for serbians and an Albania for the Albanese. If the albanese living in kosovo don't like to live there they can always move back to their country and serbians living in Bosnia can go back to Serbia if they don't like to live in there. What's the point in creating new not self-sustainable countries? Speacially when there are other REAL countries that deserve to be free and aren't.
This work is against the albanian nacionalists and not against the people of kosovo, albanians and serbians...
I know this will sound that i am a stereotype serbian, but Kosovo belongs to us. Much blood has flooded for kosovo but it stayed hunderts of years to us. Many serbians didn't leflt frealy there homes, they left it because of the terror of the albanian Skinnhead's. Burning there Churches and homes was there tactic and much more worse stuff. I am talking about the albanian skinnheads not the albanian peopel wich wan't to live peacfull.
That was the ideia I was trying to put in my image. Anyway what was made in kosovo should be done also in the regions where serbians are a majority like in east bosnia...
Good art work should always evoke emotion and this has certainly done that. I like the work. It stirs up good conversation. This coming from an American who's family immigrated from Albania 90 years ago. Keep making things that make people think.
